A National Memorial in every country PDF Print E-mail
Calls for national memorials to road crash victims are increasing, together with calls for official recognition of the World Day of Remembrance by Governments. Their presence would be a signal to society and to road crash victims of a country’s serious response to road carnage.

National memorials placed in capital cities would also provide a focal point for commemorations, various acts of remembrance and relevant actions and publicity, including on the World Day of Remembrance.

Monuments are the most common kind of physical memorials, erected to honour, celebrate or remember important or well loved persons, episodes or events. Most cities in most countries have monuments in remembrance of those who lost their lives prematurely and violently – notably during wars, but also in disasters. These memorials are also meant as a warning - to ensure that wars and disasters do not happen again.

For all the above reasons, memorials are now being established to the victims of what many consider a civil war that is raging in every country – to road traffic victims.

There are already many local road victim memorials in existence, but the aim of this initiative is for a national memorial in every country. National Memorials
