Nigeria (Taraba State) PDF Print E-mail

On: 30th November at the Government House in Jalingo, Taraba State

On an annual basis in Nigeria, scores of road crashes are caused by broken down vehicles that are not removed on time. Most of the vehicles causing this type of crashes are usually, trailers, petrol tankers, pay-loaders, caterpillars and other heavy duty vehicles. At nights, vehicles travelling on top speed crash into many of these broken down vehicles because of poor visibility and several dozens are sent to untimely death.

To curb this kind of accidents, Safety Alliance, Arrive Alive, Association for Better Environment and Child Safety Rights have partnered together to do retro-reflective tapes campaign. During the exercise which will cover 5,000 trailers and trucks in Lagos and 500 trailers and trucks in Jalingo, Taraba State, the partners will paste over 20,000 pieces of reflective tapes on the back and sedes of  trucks to make them easily seen from a distance of 500 meters at night.
