Events to be held in Ireland for World Day of Remembrance 2008

Organised and promoted by the organization PARC (Public Against Road Carnage), which has as its slogan Promoting Awareness, Responsibility and Care
Susan Gray of PARC writes:

Many PARC members are attending the ceremony in Knock, Co. Mayo this year to remember those lost on our roads, those injured and all the grieving families left behind.

We will be releasing 32 helium balloons - one for each county in Ireland where so many have died. This way we will be including Northern Ireland which is essential as we all share the one country.

We have printed road safety leaflets to distribute at services.

Also: Michael O’Neill of PARC is organising a mass in the Augustinian church in Drogheda at 13.15. Fr. Iggy O’Donovan will say the mass. Victim families, members of the emergency services, County Councillors and the gardaí are invited to take part in the mass. Music will be provided by children from local schools.

We have asked all dioceses to pray for all our lost loved ones during their mass on 16th November
